How the Canadian Collector Car Auction came to be

Craig Collingridge and Des Plewman

Craig Collingridge, at 15 years old, bought his first car, a 1979 Ford Mustang for $625. Little did he know, that would be the start of his lifelong passion. Since that day, he has been buying and selling classic cars worldwide. Growing up, he worked in the auction business with his father who did livestock sales. Then, after running his own car dealership for over 20 years, he decided to get into the car auction business. He bought Associated Auto Auction in 2020 with his wife, Janelle. They ran their first ever collector car auction in early 2021. With multiple successful collector car auctions under his belt, he is ready to take on the rest of Canada to expand the business.

In a chance meeting with Canadian-champion auctioneer Des Plewman later that autumn, Craig suspected he had found someone who shared his passion and could help bring a Canada-wide collector auction company into reality.

In addition to over 10 years auctioning automobiles, Des has over 30 years of experience travelling the world auctioneering in North America, Europe and the Middle East. Des has always had a love for collector cars and now has found a passion doing collector car auctions.

Collingridge shared both his experience creating a collector car auction as a professional auctioneer and his skills as a blockman to collaborate with Plewman for Regina Auto Auction’s first collector car auction in Regina, SK in May 2022. It was then Collingridge was certain he and Plewman would make an unparalleled auction team.
